Top 5 Favorite Breweries in Asheville

Oof… this is a difficult one.

First off, I think it’s important to note that there are over 50 breweries in Asheville, North Carolina… 50!!!

Secondly, I am rating based on ambiance, flavor and location. Each weighted equally.

So let’s get into it…

Sierra Nevada

Although this brewery is quite out of the way for me… it is adult heaven. They have everything from a stage, live music, dining hall, brew tours, a gift shop, a garden, food trucks, bocci ball, etc.

Not to mention… they spared no expense when building the grounds.

They also have a wide variety of beer, and even hard kombucha! So you can appease all of your friends.

My favorite part about Sierra Nevada though, is their sustainability practices & employee satisfaction. Those are near & dear to my heart, so when I learned that Sierra Nevada achieved ‘LEED Platinum’ (the highest rating in the LEED system) as well as gives their employees - even part-time employees! - 40% off all products, 401k, PTO and more… I knew I wanted to spread the word & support them!

New Belgium Brewing Company

Honestly… it’s just impossible not to have a good time at New Belgium Brewing Company. With multiple beer options, everyone will be happy.

They also just expanded their porch so that you can grab a brew & watch people tubing go by on the river. You’re also just across the way from the River Arts District. They also have a beautiful front lawn where you can play cornhole, or just enjoy the vibe. It’s also family (& doggie) friendly!

Highland Brewing Company

Fun fact: Highland is actually where we made friends in Asheville! They hosted a sand volleyball league, which we joined & got to experience Highland and all it’s glory!

Highland Brewing Company is the first craft brewery in Asheville since the prohibition. They offer seasonal flavors - my personal favorite is ‘Peachful,’ their Summer seasonal!

They have a few taprooms, but my favorite is South East of Asheville off Charlotte Hwy. It has a taproom, rooftop bar, an entire disc golf course, sand volleyball courts, cornhole and much more! A crowd will sure enjoy this!

Wicked Weed: The Funkatorium

Right there in the South Slopes, Wicked Weed Brewery is certainly a night to remember!

When I visited, there was a circus show! People were literally doing trapeze from the ceiling, walking around on stilts!! I was so impressed.

The Funkatorium is always going above & beyond to entertain their customers. They also have a wide variety of beers available. You’re sure to impress any guest (or yourself) when you stop by!

Plus, located at South Slopes, you’re right there next to tons of other breweries & bars!

Hi-Wire Brewing

Yes! You’re in Asheville? Hi-Wire Brewing is a MUST!

With 3 different locations, you’re bound to find one that fits your vibe. In the River Arts District, there is a beer garden that is filled with color, art, games, a food truck & so much more (I had the best beer cheese here!). In Biltmore Village, you can experience the wide variety of flavors while playing an exciting game of Trivia on Wednesdays (this has become my new favorite hobby to be completely honest), and then of course the Hi-Wire Brewery in South Slopes will for sure catch your eye.

Without any doubt at all - this is a must see.
