Outer Banks: Roadtrip to the Coast!
Hello fam!
This weekend, my mom came to visit us Asheville & if there is one thing to know about my mom… It's that she LOVES the coast.
So!
We packed our bags & headed to the coast
It’s a 7.5 hour drive from Asheville to Outer Banks, North Carolina. Great…
But it was filled with stories, singing, laughter & opinions about the Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp trial. I loved every second of it.
When we finally arrived to our rental, the sun was setting & it felt like the world was at peace.
The next day, Mom & I met on the top deck of the beach house & chatted (these are moments I take a mental note of because there is simply nothing better than being with my loved ones). When we were ready, we went into town (specifically Duck, NC) & grabbed coffee and donuts at Duck Donuts (a local, made-to-order donut shop).
Then we strolled on the boardwalk with coffee in our hand & donuts in our mouth chatting the rest of the day away. We found a cute farmer's market that sold local veggies & herbs! Of course we bought a few things - what for? We don't know yet, but we'll find a use for them!
The day was gorgeous so we decided to go to the Wright Brother's Memorial to learn & get inspired! We admired the work & time the Wright Brother's put into getting humans in the air! (We also very much appreciated the architecture & monument built to honor their work - you should go see it if you have the chance!)
After this… we napped.
It was a long day & we're in a beach town!!
But very shortly after, we gathered the dogs & walked to the beach. Yes, our Vrbo had beach access just down the street!
Being on the beach is always nostalgic to me. As I mentioned earlier, my mom is obsessed with it! I remember when we had a free weekend, my mom would pack the car & drive us to the beach; when I had my first real breakup, she took us on a girl's trip to the coast. It has always been our go-to getaway.
And that right there is why we did this.
To be on a beach. Next to the ocean. Hearing & feeling the waves crash in, the dogs enjoying the smells & Cory burying his feet into the sand. But most importantly, my mom & I being together doing something we love.
This. Is. Everything.
