Asheville: The Birds.
Good morning,
Have you ever wondered why in the world so many people know & love Asheville?
I certainly have.
After hearing this far too much, I had to try Asheville out for myself and now I understand.
In the Springtime, every flower blossoms as if they’re in a beauty contest. We are not concerned about a single plant and whether it’s going to bloom or not. Coming from Texas (with the drastic change in temperature), this is a common topic of discussion… “So Sally—you think you’re going to get more roses bud this year? (or green beans, or watermelons)”
“Well Kiley… I’m just not sure with the drastic change in weather we had yesterday that surprised everyone including the weather person.”
At least we can depend on our succulents!
But here in Asheville, there’s no question. The soil is great, everyone focuses on their lawn & flowerbeds. Actually, come to think of it, that’s like a Sunday afternoon activity with the family.
This place is freaking cute.
But it’s not just the flowers or the adorable, pulled straight from a Nicholas Sparks novel family… what really gets me about Asheville are the birds.
Now, I’m not a bird fanatic - I can tell a chicken apart from a hummingbird, but aside from that I’m basically useless.
However, what I can tell you is that every morning. Rain or shine. I am awaken by birds chirping.
I have yet to wake up angry here & I firmly believe that is the reason why.
Not just that, but when I head to my car to grab breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner… I hear birds chirping.
As I’m window shopping in downtown, I hear birds chirping.
As I take the dogs for a walk, I hear birds chirping.
As I am sitting in the comfort of my own home watching a movie… I hear birds chirping!
Is someone messing with me? Maybe. But I don’t care, I think I’m in love with it.
Each quiet moment where I can finally turn away from my work, phone, errands, etc. I’m blessed with birds singing their praise in the most melodic way.
So that right there—the birds (but it a far less terrifying way than Alfred Hitchcock put it)—is why I am seriously contemplating living in Asheville, North Carolina.
